Area Forecast Discussion

000 FXUS65 KGGW 280551 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 1151 PM MDT Tue Oct 27 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - Possible fog this morning mainly from Glasgow to Wolf Point - Dry conditions are expected over the next several days but chances for rainfall increase over the weekend. - Temperatures will remain close or slightly above normal. && .DISCUSSION... Synopsis: A couple cut-off lows exist over the region. The one just to our north is expected to drift east into Manitoba today. The other low is dropping SW from British Columbia and is expected to remain off the Pac NW coast for the next few days. Skies have cleared early this morning with high humidity that has allowed some fog to form briefly. The big question this morning is will the fog become widespread and dense before the sun burns it off by afternoon. The NBM favors it to form over the lower Milk and Missouri River valleys but HREF is showing less confidence for fog. With the low confidence, will hold off on any headlines for this. With the upper low over BC, the zonal flow today and Thursday will become more meridional as a ridge over the Eastern Montana is induced. This won't boost temps much but will send moisture in on Friday in the form of clouds. Precip chances do increase over the weekend with the highest chances for rain coming Sunday night. Clearing is expected behind the system early next week with an upper ridge bringing in drier conditions. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: There were no deviations from the NBM, but confidence on its handling of the fog is low. The HREF is showing low confidence on the fog so widespread dense fog is not expected at this time. TFJ && .AVIATION...
